MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital will do all we can to make your visit or stay comfortable. From the Child Life Program to the Youth Patient Advisory Council, our resources and information are here to help make your time with us as stress-free as possible – so that you can focus your energy on your loved one

Amenities at the Children's Hospital

This hospital was designed by families for families to make your stay as comfortable as possible. These resources are available for you: 

For nursing mothers, care team members, and visitors.

For quiet meditative time and spiritual care, on Floor 7, open 24 hours/day. 

On Floors 2 through 5 and 8 through 10, includes a microwave, hot drink station, and a refrigerator. 

On Floor, 1 for gifts, treats, balloons, toys, and hygiene items.

This service, from your inpatient room smart TV and/or iPad, is your guide through your stay and offers:

  • Hospital information and room service options.
  • Videos about taking care of yourself or your loved one.
  • Ways to relax, play, find distractions, and rest.
  • A way to share compliments and suggestions.

The hospital provides free Wi-Fi access for patients and visitors. To connect: open your settings, go to Wi-Fi and join the “muscguest” network. Once you connect, open your browser. You will see MUSC’s Terms of Use. Click Accept and OK.

Located on the 2nd through 5th floors, and on floors 8, 9, and 10, laundry service is provided for Children's Hospital families. Please ask your unit staff for a code to the laundry room and laundry detergent.

We have showers available for parents of patients who are in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Special Care Nursery, and Pediatric Cardiology Intensive Care Unit. Comfort kits containing soap, shampoo, and conditioner are available upon request from your child's nurse. The shower room is open 24 hours a day.

Please contact Security on the ground floor if you lose anything during your stay.

This is a nonprofit “home” away from home for families of very ill children receiving care at the hospital. To qualify, parents must be over 18 years of age and live more than 25 miles away, and the child must be 18 years or younger. For more information, please call 843-723-7957 or contact your social worker, nurse, or Guest Services representative. 

On Floor 7 – outdoor fun, that includes a tree house, gardens, a turlte and dolphin topiary and musical instruments.

On Floor 7, this Child Life area is designed to meet the play and activity needs of children, teens, and their families. The Play Atrium is a “safe place” free from medical treatments.

On floors 2 through 4 and 8 through 10, a quiet place to process things away from busy hospital life.

Where you can buy over-the-counter medicine or have your prescriptions filled before going home. Pharmacists are available to help patients understand how to take their medicine safely and for the best results.

MUSC Health Guest Services Representatives strive to exceed the expectations of our patients, their families, visitors, and staff. We offer compassionate support and community resources to enhance the well-being of our patients while supporting the emotional and humanitarian needs of their families.

What We Do

Guest Services Representatives are available to help make the experience at MUSC Health more comfortable for patients and their family members. We are your liaison to the clinical care team and we are here to guide a patient-and family-centered approach to your stay.

Some of the services and information we are able to provide include:

  • Greet patients, families and visitors.
  • Issue badges and help visitors find their way.
  • Assist with hotel reservations at discount rates.
  • Provide information about the hospital.
  • Arrange hospital tours for prenatal wellness/NICU patients and families.
  • Assist with transportation, parking, and directions.
  • Provide information on dining, food delivery services, and local attractions.

Waiting rooms on our hospital floors include:

  • Lockers
  • Computers
  • Free wireless internet access
  • Charging stations for electronic devices
